Children & Parents Day: Going Green for Spring in Celebration of Earth Day: Sunday, April 3, 2011:

The Sixth Annual Children & Parents Day has a new date, new location and new theme.  This annual family day event will be on Sunday, April 3, 2011, 12 noon to 4pm, at the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History’s home inside the Boynton Beach Mall in Boynton Beach, FL.  Target Stores is the Grand Sponsor. The new theme is Going Green for Spring which and the event celebrates Earth Day and the event theme has been inspired by the Museum’s For the Love of LILLY exhibit.  This LILLY exhibit chronicles the Lilly Pulitzer fashions that are famous for print designs with nature elements.  The Palm Beach Post is the Print News Media Sponsor of the LILLY exhibit.

The activities for the event are inspired by nature and will include gardening activities, nature-theme arts and crafts, and face painting.  There will also be a live Parrot Show by the Parrot Lady.  To add, the Build-A-Bear Workshop is partnering with the Museum for the event and will be conducting on-site a hands-on activity.  Build-A-Bear has also arranged for “Pawlette Coifure Bunny” to make a personal appearance at the Children & Parents Day.  Souvenir photos are being sponsored by Abbey Portrait Studios and will be photographed in front of the Museum’s Palm Tree Mural that has been designed by Skyler Carosella, 12th grade student of Boca Raton High School.  Toojay’s Original Gourmet Deli is the catering sponsor of the all-you-can-eat buffet.  Tropical music will be provided Michael Kennedy.  The official student volunteers are from American Heritage School Boca/Delray. Families in attendance will also be able to view all the exhibits at the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History that include For the Love of LILLY; Barbie: History, Fashions & More celebrating Ken’s 50th Birthday; and Fashion Treasures.

Other supporters of the event, to date, include the Patricia Ann Ravo Fund; the Boris & Edith Rueger Fund, the Boynton Beach Mall-Simon Malls and US 1 AC Self Storage.  Sponsorship opportunities are still available for Children & Parents Day.

This annual family event is consistently sold-out with capacity attendance of visitors from throughout South Florida and Central Florida too

The purpose of this festive program is to provide a fun-filled day of family adventures with arts, crafts and history education activities for children. The arts and crafts at the event will help to encourage motor-skill development.

Admission fees are $15 per person for adults, senior citizens and children age 3 and over; free for children under age 3.  Fees are inclusive of food, activities, entertainment and exhibits.  The Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History is located at 801 N. Congress Avenue, Suite 483; Boynton Beach, FL (inside the north wing of the Boynton Beach Mall).  Tickets can be purchased on-line at ChildrenParentsDay.org/specialevents.html.  For more information, call 561-243-2662 or e-mail EarthDay@ChildrenParentsDay.org.  Visit the website at www.ChildrenParentsDay.org
