Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 12 Noon to 4pm:
Sixth annual Children & Parents Day: Going Green for Spring
This event is inspired by the nature related designs in the Lilly fashions and celebrates Earth Day
Location: Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History
$15 per person/adult/seniors/children age 3 and over; Free for children under age 3

Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 4:15pm to 7:15pm
Ken is 50 Party and Book-signing for Jef Beck who wrote I Love Ken: My Life as the Ulitmate Boyfriend. This event is being hosted in celebration of the 2011 Barbie Convention. Bus transporation will be provided to MLFH in Boynton Beach for attendees of the convention. The event is open to the public.

Featuring more than 80 vintage Lilly Pulitzer clothes, accessories and original fabric, the exhibit is on display now thru May 31, 2011 at the donated location for the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History at the Boynton Beach Mall in Boynton Beach , Florida .  The exhibit includes various educational programs about design.

In Winter 2009, the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History (MLFH) opened in its current donated 8,000 square feet facility located inside the Boynton Beach Mall which is owned by Simon Malls.  Thanks to various donations, including in-kind, the first phase of renovations included creating three gallery spaces and an education room for school field trips.

Meet the Preppy author Lisa Birnbach

On Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 12 noon to 4pm the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History (MLFH) will be hosting at its facility a reception and book-signing for celebrated author Lisa Birnbach who recently published TRUE PREP: Its A Whole New Old World .

This personal appearance is being hosted as one of the special events for the MLFH exhibit For the Love of LILLY exhibit that has been organized and developed by the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History. Featuring more than 80 vintage Lilly Pulitzer clothes, accessories and original fabric, the exhibit is on display now thru May 31, 2011 at the donated location for the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History at the Boynton Beach Mall in Boynton Beach , Florida .  The exhibit includes various educational programs about design. 

Lisa Birnbach, the author of The Official Preppy Handbook, has written a new take on the old world that Lisa Birnbach turned into an international best-selling phenomenon thirty years ago. TRUE PREP looks at how the old guard adapts to the new order of the Internet, cell phones, political correctness and reality TV.  The book covers some of the following topics: Fashion, Money, Food and Texting.

 
Lilly Pulitzer fashions have been included in both of Birnbach's books about Preppy Americans.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers will be on-site at the Museum at the November 28th reception for Lisa Birnbach.  They will have copies of the book TRUE PREP available for purchase at the Museum.  Book retail price: $19.95

 
Cost for the reception is the MLFH regular admission fees which are $5 per person for adults, senior citizens and children age 12 and over; $1 per person for children age 2 to 11; Free for children under age 2. Free for Members.  Memberships or Advance tickets can be purchased on-line at MLFHMUSEUM.org.

Special Events
    • Sunday, November 28, 2010 – (NEW TIMES) 12pm to 4pm – Reception and Book signing for Lisa Birnbach, author of the Official Preppy Handbook and the book True Prep: It’s a Whole New Old World. Sponsored, in part, by the Colony Hotel & Cabana Club-Delray Beach; and Toojay's Gourmet Restaurant.

The November 28th reception will be held at the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers will be on-site with copies of TRUE PREP available for purchase.  The retail price: $19.95 
The book can make for a great gift for the holiday season.

The cost for attendance is regular museum admission which is $5.00 per person; $1 per child age 12 and under; and free for members and children under age 2.

Previous Events:

  • Sunday, September 12, 2010 1pm to 4pm – Grandparents Day.  Complimentary fruit and citrus juice will be served and fruit & citrus-themed arts & crafts will be available for children.
 The Grandparents Day activities will include some of the following complimentary events and activities (with regular paid admissions to the Museum):

·         Fruit-themed picture frame decorating

·         Citrus fruit-themed scrapbooking

·         Journal writing about “grandparent memories”

·         Complimentary fruit and citrus juice will be served

·         Live ambiance music performed on guitar by 14 year-old Isabella Almodovar who is in 9th grade at Boynton Beach High School; and Boynton High School grad Jermel Daise


*Admission fees are $5 per person for adults, senior citizens and children age 12 and over; $1 per person for children age 2 to 11; Free for children under age 2.  Advance tickets can be purchased on-line at MLFHMUSEUM.org. 

*A professional photographer from Thru The Lens Image will be available to take your sounvenir photo in front of the LILLY Palm Tree Mural. Photos are available for purchase (not included in admissions fee price). Photo comes with professional frame-jacket.

About Grandparents Day
 Purpose:
  • To honor grandparents
  • To give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children.
  • To help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer.
In 1970, a West Virginia housewife, Marian Lucille Herndon McQuade, initiated a campaign to set aside a special day just for Grandparents.

The For the Love of LILLY exhibit has been organized and developed by the Museum of Lifestyle  & Fashion History and is on display August 3, 2010 thru May 31, 2011 at the donated location for the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History at the Boynton Beach Mall in Boynton Beach, Florida.  The exhibit includes various educational programs about design.

More than 100 vintage Lilly Pulitzer items for women, men and children; fabrics, accessories; a limited edition Lilly juice carton and animal crackers; galoshes, cocktail trays and napkins; and photos have been provided by more than 20 collectors from throughout the USA and the State of Florida.  Some collectors are from Cincinnati, Ohio; San Francisco, California; Shingle Springs, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Saratoga, New York; as well as from cities in Florida such as Longwood (Orlando), Safety Harbor (Tampa Bay). Wellington, West Palm Beach; Boynton Beach; Delray Beach; Highland  Beach; Pompano Beach; Fort Lauderdale; Parkland and Miami. The exhibition is chronological beginning with the family history of Mrs. Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau to present day.
Mural art inspired by the iconic prints in the Lilly Pulitzer designs has been created for the exterior gallery wall by Boca Raton High School student, Skyler Carosella.  Skyler is a resident in Boca Raton and hopes to pursue a career in fashion.
 
Other mural art design for the interior of the exhibit gallery was created by Natalie Nelson of Boynton Beach, FL. Natalie studied art at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) from which she graduated.
  
MLFH developed a curriculum partnership with the Miami International University of Art & Design for the LILLY exhibit.  30 students created designs that were inspired by the iconic Lilly Pulitzer designs.  Some of the student Lilly-inspired fabric designs are in the exhibit too.
 
Private group tours are offered for the exhibit. As well as, school field trips are available for the exhibit through the museum's Mathematics in Design & History program for grades Pre-K through 6th grade.  Mathematical geometric shapes are highlighted as a part of the exhibit for the field trip.
